Thanks for including a voiceover! This part made me mentally fist pump in the air: "Both Monson and Bianchi had a taste for extreme darkness and opulent beauty — this is not something that reflects their mental states, rather it’s a testament to their powers of observation, imagination, and empathy." I've started reading more bodice rippers this year and, what you write here - extreme darkness and opulent beauty, powers of EMPATHY - are precisely why I am drawn to them.
